Introduction:
Project and Development Grants are offered to young people aged 26 and under or to organisations delivering arts opportunities for young people.
Project and Development funding means that you can ask SAYAB for financial support towards your artistic project (something with a perceivable outcome – like an exhibition, performance, manuscript, CD, installation etc).
Or you can ask for support towards your development (like your skills, ideas, methods, networks, reputation etc).
Your application might involve both - project AND development activity.
Art forms funded include Theatre, Music, Dance, New Writing, Visual Arts, Film and New Media.
A new grant known as the Youth Arts Workshop Program Grant has recently been established to offer funding to organisations with a proven track record of workshop delivery to young people. This opportunity is offered once per year and is only available by invitation.
Objectives:
- to support the development of young
artists to promote excellence in youth arts activity
- to promote experimentation in new
art forms (or within existing art forms)
- to provide support to organisations
for the development phase of training activities and mentor schemes
with the view to such schemes continuing after the project terminates
Activity that may be supported:
- young artists developing their own
projects
- individuals, small groups or non-profit
organisations encouraging the participation of young people in arts
activities as planners, creators, performers and audience
- youth arts practitioners and young
artists wishing to further their professional development
- youth groups and organisations who
can demonstrate wider community involvement and the involvement of young
people from outside the group or organisation in the activity
- individuals or organisations which
have a good track record and who want to explore a new area in their
chosen art form or across art forms
- individuals participating in quality
training/mentoring programs
- organisations developing training
programs/mentoring schemes for young artists which will continue to
be available for other young artists beyond the funding period
