The Department of Education and Children's Services in partnership with the South Australian Youth Arts Board has allocated funding for the annual awards program in 2008 that rewards and promotes excellence in arts education.

There are three $5,000 awards for demonstrated excellence in arts teaching and leadership in department schools:

• Primary School Teacher
• Secondary School Teacher
• Artist Working in Schools

Arts educators and artists can nominate themselves, or nominations can be submitted by colleagues, parents, students and the wider community.

Teacher nominees must be currently working in department schools.
