BACKGROUND
- This scheme
provides young visual artists with a subsidised studio space
in a recognised studio for up to twelve months to enable them
to work alongside a professional artist.
- Applicants
need to be at a stage in their development to be able to show
a strong commitment to their art practice through training and
skill level. Applications are called for once a year and close
at the beginning of October for residencies in the following
year.
- An exhibition
of recipients of this scheme is held in December at the Carclew
Youth Arts Centre.
- There will
be one call for applications per year, in August.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants
must be 26 years of age or under, at the closing date of the
applications.
- Applicants
must be a resident of South Australia.
- Examples
of work must be provided eg. photos or slides. Ensure material
is of a high quality eg. slides are focused and clear. Maximum
of six (6) pieces.
- Two references
from people who are prepared to provide confidential information
in relation to your application must be provided. (One referee
must be able to provide specialist advice on your work as a
practitioner).
ASSESSMENT
CRITERIA
- Does the
applicant demonstrate a strong commitment to and expertise in
their artform?
- Has the
applicant provided examples of their work to a level that enables
the Assessment Committee to assess their artistic ability?
- Has the
applicant provided two references for the information of the
Assessment Committee?
- Has the
applicant provided a Curriculum Vitae that convinces the Assessment
Committee of the applicants readiness for a residency?

Adelaide Central School of Art (Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics)
- Gray Street Workshop (Contemporary Jewellery)
- Experimental Art Foundation (Contemporary Visual Art)
- Applicants
are not to send original documentation. All example material
is to be labelled.
- The successful
applicants will be required to participate in a joint exhibition
at Carclew Youth Arts Centre with other Artists-in-Studios recipients
of works completed during the residencies.
