Power Drawing Workshops

Carclew is offering a series of professional development workshops to South Australian teachers from metropolitan schools. The first of these, Power Drawing, is designed to bring the art of drawing into every classroom.

Our artists will work with staff groups to develop drawing skills and empower teachers with new and creative ways to enhance teaching and capture the attention of students. This will include creative skills and techniques that teachers can embed across the school curriculum, not just in the art room!

"Teachers are often artists too. Their engagement in arts and cultural practices can provide a wide range of arts and learning opportunities for their students." National Education and the Arts

To get your school involved, simply download the Expression of Interest form from the link on the right of the page and return to Carclew.

If you have any further questions please phone us, we'd love to hear from you!

Power Drawing with Cowandilla Primary School

Twenty teachers from Cowandilla Primary School visited Carclew in early November and spent two intensive hours learning drawing skills and exercises with artists James Parker and John Whitney.

The workshops took place in the ballroom and art room of the heritage Carclew house.

The artists took teachers through a range of practical drawing activities they can take back to their classrooms without having to purchase expensive equipment or materials.

“This has been so valuable for all of us. We are thinking of projects we can use the techniques for already.  Thank you so much.”
