Are you a creative, young Australian on the cusp of a great artistic career? You've got the talent, the vision and the drive it's going to take – but do you have the professional skill set, one on one support and national network to match? JUMP can make sure that you do.
JUMP directly supports the career development of artists aged 18-30, and in the first five years of their professional practice, by facilitating mentorships with professional artists regarded highly in their chosen artform.
Mentored artists receive funding for a creative concept, to be realised through a flexible relationship with their chosen mentor across a 10-month mentorship period.
Between mentors' established networks and the JUMP program's national reach, mentees also receive direct access to a significant range of professional development resources, showcasing opportunities and industry engagement activities.
As Australia's newest and largest artist mentoring program, JUMP is serious about championing our nation's next generation of arts industry leaders, and ensuring that artform, geography and cultural diversity are no barrier to identifying and promoting artistic excellence.
Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian Government's national arts funding and advisory body, through the Opportunities for Young and Emerging Artists initiative JUMP is managed nationally by Youth Arts Queensland, and will be delivered in 2010 in collaboration with inaugural state delivery partners Carclew Youth Arts (SA) and Propel Youth Arts WA.
Not a young artist yourself? Don't worry – you can get involved as a mentor, as an organisation or even refer a young artist you know who you think would really benefit from this opportunity.
